Essie grew up in Kansas and Oklahoma, and has a deep love for red clay dirt and flint hills sunsets. She has spent the last decade learning what life is like outside of America’s heartland. She has served as a PCUSA Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) in Belfast Northern Ireland, attended Seminary at Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Virginia, and most recently explored the Great Lakes State of Michigan as she served as the Interim Director of Youth Ministry at First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor.
Essie first came to DMPC as a seminary intern in the summer of 2016, and loved it so much that she found her way back. She is married to Eric Koenig-Reinke, who is also a pastor and currently serves as the associate for intergenerational ministries at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, Delaware. Her dog, Bentley, loves playing tag and running around and exploring the world around him.
She loves all things related to Lavender and Coffee, and really enjoys reading mystery books and watching British Crime Shows
In Essie’s own words: “I am so grateful and excited to see how God is moving here at DMPC, three years ago I fell in love with you all and it is such a joy to continue exploring together the ways in which the Spirit is moving both in the congregation and in the larger community. I tell people all the time that DMPC loved me into pastoral ministry and it is incredibly humbling and exciting to be in ministry with you all again.”
